This past weekend, I had the chance to attend Exposure Skate 2024 in Encinitas, California, and I have to say, it was incredible. So much happened that it’s hard to fit it all in one post, but here’s a little recap for those of you who follow my work.
November 2 was officially declared Patty McGee Day, celebrating one of the OGs of women’s skateboarding. It was amazing to see skaters of all ages pay tribute to someone who paved the way for so many in our community.
Another highlight was Arisa Trew’s unstoppable performance, taking first place in every competition she entered. And let’s not forget Juno Matsuoka, who won the Big Air competition—it was insane watching that from the deck while shooting on the Vert Ramp.
The weekend was packed with competitions in Vert, Bowl, and Street, with divisions for all ages and skill levels. My last time at Exposure was in 2019, and coming back this year, I was blown away by how much our community has grown and progressed. It’s inspiring to see a space where everyone—pros, newcomers, and everyone in between—can thrive and push limits together.
Big thanks to Amelia and everyone who made this 13th edition happen—it takes so many moving pieces and dedicated volunteers to pull off an event like this. And lastly, a huge thank you to Vans for inviting me to capture these unforgettable moments. My heart’s full, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Hope you enjoy the photos!
